Sea Chanties in San Francisco!
Along with other groups and individuals, the Lighthouse String Band participated in a special anniversary celebration dedicated to the "Sea Chantey" in San Francisco on October 1, 2011. The band performed at mid-pier near the historic ship Balclutha. Everyone was welcome to participate in a sing-along later on that evening. The Chantey Sing takes place on the first Saturday of every month. You can join the Hyde Street Pier Chantey Sing Facebook Group.

Maybe you saw the Lighthouse String Band at the El Cerrito Free Folk Festival on Saturday October 22, 2011. We presented a lively blend of Irish and Celtic music.

Follow the link to find out more about this 10 day long event where you can become totally immersed in all aspects of Irish song, music, dance and language. In case you want to plan way ahead – the Fleadh will be going to Derry in 2013.
Open seisiún in Half Moon Bay
The Band sponsors an open jam session in Half Moon Bay on most Sundays from 11:30 AM - 3:00 PM, alternating between Peet's Coffee and the La Di Da Café. Players and fans of all ages are welcome. 50% of the proceeds from tips are donated to the food bank.
Support of Non-profits in the San Francisco Bay Area
The Band has also donated their time to the support of non-profits in the Bay Area, notably benefit concerts for the Anne Darling School in San Jose, and for the Hospice of the Valley in San Jose.
